The Company: Cyclo Industries, Inc,, Jupiter, FL USA
Cyclo Industries was established in 1959 to develop a superior performing range of chemical maintenance products formulated for the professional mechanic. Cyclo’s superior quality and performance products are considered by many to be the best in the industry. Cyclo offers a complete line of professionally formulated, time-tested cleaners, lubricants, and additives, sold primarily through distribution channels and designed for the complete maintenance and enhanced performance of heavy-duty equipment, truck, marine, and industrial applications.
In June 2006, Cyclo Industries became a division of Pidilite USA Inc, a member of the $250 million Pidilite Group from India. Pidilite has been a pioneer and market leader in craftsmen products, DIY (Do-it-Yourself) products and industrial specialty chemicals in India since 1959.
The Challenge:
For years, Cyclo had been outsourcing all MIS requirements to their previous parent company which had been using an old DOS system that was not accessible by the Cyclo staff. When the parent company was sold, Cyclo Industries became their own entity and was left without the technology required to process orders. Cyclo’s management team was forced to research new ERP options that could be purchased and implemented quickly with little to no time for training.
During the ERP selection process, several solutions were considered. Cyclo was looking for a solution that had a Windows feel and was easy to implement. They also required a solution that included or integrated add-on functionality such as Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
The TrueCommerce Solution:
With the help of their Value Added Reseller, Netsirk Technologies, Cyclo chose SAP Business One as their ERP system. It had all the core functionality they needed and the Microsoft Windows® feel they were looking for. In addition, integrated EDI functionality was easily added with the TrueCommerce EDI solution.
Faced with a looming deadline, TrueCommerce dedicated resources to accommodate the rushed implementation schedule. According to Cyclo’s Controller, Roger Butterfield, the implementation process went very smoothly.
TrueCommerce worked with Butterfield to make EDI painless for Cyclo industries. “If we were not live by our cut-off date, we would not have been able to process orders at all. It would have been catastrophic. Instead, I was set up and trained in no time and was ready to start processing transactions as soon as I sat down in front of the computer.”
“Our previous situation was a nightmare! Now that we don’t have to rely on third-party outsourcing, we have ultimate control. This enables us to respond quicker to everyone – our customers and our employees.”
TrueCommerce’s end-to-end solution eliminated further cost and hassle of third-party providers. The comprehensive solution is as easy to use as it is affordable. Butterfield stated that he is not a technical person, however “people without a technical background can get up and running with TrueCommerce’s EDI solution in no time.”
Butterfield had no prior EDI experience. TrueCommerce shielded Butterfiled from having to set up connections with Ace Hardware, Murray’s Discount Auto Stores, TruServ and others. TrueCommerce’s modular approach to adding trading partners provided all of the mappings for each trading partner, saving Butterfield from having to learn raw EDI and integration techniques.
“I am absolutely convinced that we purchased the right software. And I am convinced I have the right partners!” said Butterfield.
