TrueCommerce's Tony Bernard Finalist for CIO of the Year

GREATER PITTSBURGH CIO GROUP AND PITTSBURGH TECHNOLOGY COUNCIL TO ANNOUNCE WINNER JANUARY 20

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania…Tony Bernard, vice-president of Technology at TrueCommerce, has been selected as a finalist for the Greater Pittsburgh CIO Group and Pittsburgh Technology Council’s 2004 CIO of the Year Award in the Growth category (companies with fewer than 100 employees). This awards program honors individual technology executives from industry, nonprofit, academia and government sectors.

Wexford-based TrueCommerce provides electronic transactional platforms and services that enable small and mid-sized companies to conduct business with mass merchants such as Wal-Mart and The Home Depot.
Bernard is one of 21 finalists which include chief information officers or those in equivalent positions. They were selected based on their innovation and creativity in planning and deploying their enterprise systems, future IT goals, management philosophy and service to the industry and community. Winners will be selected based upon their excellence in these areas.

“We are very excited with the community’s response to the CIO of the Year Awards and the high quality of nominees involved this year,” said Jared Roberts, managing director, IT Industry Network & IS Peer Network, Pittsburgh Technology Council. “The program and participants clearly highlight the strength of IT talent our region possesses. The awards will be a great opportunity to increase the visibility for the innovative IT leadership in southwestern Pennsylvania.”

“Tony defines his excellent leadership abilities through team empowerment,” noted George McKee III president and CEO of TrueCommerce. “He empowers his team by assigning them clearly defined and measurable objectives based on the strategic and tactical needs of our business. Tony effectively matches employee roles to their abilities and responsibilities and then ensures that they have the necessary resources, support, and coaching that they need to be successful. We are proud of his accomplishments.”

The awards ceremony will be held at the Heinz History Center on Thurs, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. A CIO of the Year Award will be extended to each winner of the following four categories: Growth (companies with fewer than 100 employees), Enterprise (companies with between 100 and 500 employees), Global (companies with more than 500 employees), and Non-profit (any size nonprofit organization).
