Atlas to Play Leading Ecommerce Role for Gs1 Ireland

Atlas has joined GS1 Ireland’s Solution Provider Programme as a Platinum Partner for 2012.

Said Mike Byrne, CEO GS1 Ireland:
“Atlas, by adopting and deploying GS1 Standards for ecommerce solutions, has clearly demonstrated its commitment to growing the ecommerce community and to reducing the barriers to entry for GS1 Ireland members. GS1 Ireland is pleased to recognise Atlas as its Platinum Solution Provider”

The announcement was made at a recent GS1 Ireland healthcare conference attended by Irish Health Minister James Reilly.

GS1 Ireland is part of GS1 (Global Standards 1), the global supply chain standards agency, a neutral, not-for-profit organisation with over two million members globally.

The aim of the Solution Provider Programme is to foster a close working relationship between solution providers and the almost 3,000 GS1 Ireland members that require suppliers to meet their e-Commerce, bar code scanning and RFID needs.

Established in 1991 and with offices in Dublin, the UK and North America, Atlas has built an international reputation for innovation and the quality of its solutions. Now one of Ireland’s leading ebusiness solution providers, Atlas was the first to be awarded the Certificate of Accreditation from GS1 Ireland. In March 2012 an ebusiness solution for leading Irish food and drink business BWG Foods won the IT Europa Software Excellence Award as the best of its type in Europe.

Said Atlas Chairman Bill Pugsley:
“Atlas has been providing solutions for ecommerce for 20 years and we have always recognised the significant value of adopting internationally agreed GS1 standards for the simplification of exchanging business data between disparate organisations. We have a long standing relationship with GS1 Ireland, and other national GS1 offices too, built upon our mutual commitment to the implementation of GS1 Standards.”

“We are delighted to become a Platinum Sponsor of GS1 Ireland as a demonstration of our continued commitment to the GS1 processes and standards. Indeed Atlas was the first ecommerce solution provider to be awarded the Certificate of Accreditation from GS1 Ireland, confirming that Atlas applies best professional practice to GS1-related projects.”

Through its successful participation in the GS1 Ireland Solution Provider Programme, organisations such as Atlas evidence their alignment with the goals and objectives of GS1 – including to make supply chains more efficient, effective and visible through the use of global standards-based solutions.

Commenting on the award, Mike Byrne, CEO GS1 Ireland said:
“Atlas, by adopting and deploying GS1 Standards for e-Commerce solutions, have clearly demonstrated their commitment to growing the e-Commerce community and to reducing the barriers to entry for GS1 Ireland members to engage in e-Commerce in Ireland and internationally.”

“As a neutral organisation it is very important for GS1 Ireland to have a clearly defined, impartial mechanism for supporting the needs of our members to source GS1-enabled solutions. The GS1 Solution Provider Programme, with its directory of participants, is an ideal way to enable members to shortlist prospective suppliers.”
