Cruinn dominate Procurement Awards with help from Atlas

Cruinn Diagnostics Ltd were awarded both Supplier of the Year and the Innovation in Supply awards following their work alongside St James’s Hospital and Atlas Products.

December 4th 2014 saw the annual awards ceremony for the National Procurement Awards at the Doubletree Hotel in Dublin. The prestigious awards have now been running for 5 years and celebrate excellence in the procurement sector in Ireland. Over 19 awards were on offer at the 2014 event ranging from recognition of green procurement to innovation, reflecting the main areas of excellence within the industry.

The winners this year represent the industry leaders who have shown exceptional progress and commitment to procurement standards and innovation. One such leader dominated the awards this year winning both Supplier of the Year and the Innovation in Supply awards. Cruinn Diagnostics Ltd have been working on a new EDI and a Business to Business electronic paperless ordering system alongside St James’s Hospital to achieve streamlined processes, boost data accuracy, improve patient safety, eliminate paperwork, reduce stocking levels and also result in suppliers being paid more efficiently whilst saving on administration and stationary costs.

In order to achieve success with this new GS1 pilot project, St James and Cruinn Diagnostics Ltd required a technology partner with the experience and competence in healthcare to understand the challenges and produce a comprehensive solution. Atlas Products, the GS1 platinum partner, presented the perfect answer, offering a wide portfolio of experience from the Irish market including the major project they are currently working on with St James, implementing electronic trading throughout the healthcare supply chain.

The input and technology provided by Atlas ensured the project was instigated smoothly and within the available budget and time constraints. The importance of this input was highlighted when Atlas Products were mentioned in an interview after the awards by Peter Hussey, Technical Director at Cruinn, who said it was a real team effort, and in addition to congratulating the teams at Cruinn Diagnostics and St James’s Hospital, applauded Atlas Products for their involvement.

Allan W Gray, CEO at Atlas Products also commented “It was a great night which saw the coming together of many leading organisations from throughout the procurement industry. It was an added bonus to receive the recognition for our work on the Cruinn and St James Hospital EDI project”.

Atlas Products have been helping companies throughout Ireland and the UK trade electronically using both EDI and e-Invoicing for many years now. The St James’s Hospital project represents one of the most recent developments whereby Atlas has provided a GS1 accredited solution to provide the perfect solution for the Irish healthcare industry.
