TrueCommerce Denmark Selected as Member of the Third European Multi-Stakeholder Forum on e-Invoicing (EMSFeI)

TrueCommerce are happy to announce that TrueCommerce Denmark ApS have been selected as member of the Third European Multi-Stakeholder Forum on e-Invoicing (EMSFeI) and will be representing the Danish private sector.

Not only do we consider this to be a great acknowledgement, we also see it as a unique opportunity to stay at the cutting edge of the development within electronic invoicing in the EU and have an influence on future decisions. This will benefit TrueCommerce’s customers as well all other private and public organizations in Denmark.

Background

For a number of years, the European Commission has been working to introduce a common European electronic invoicing standard in response to the many different invoice formats that are being exchanged across the EU.

The many different formats have lead to increased costs and unnecessary complexity for those private companies and public authorities exchanging documents. The European Commission wishes to break with this trend.

The result is “The e-Invoicing Directive 2014/55/EU” – a directive which comes into force in April 2019 / April 2020 for state institutions and regions / local authorities, respectively. The directive dictates one common invoice format – CORE – with the possibility of adding the extensions CIUS and EXTENSIONS.

e-Invoicing infrastructures will continue to be supplied by service providers on the market.

Once the e-Invoicing Directive 2014/55/EU has been implemented and is covered by the law in the individual EU countries, electronic invoices will be able to flow seamlessly across the EU.

What is EMSFeI?

The Third European Multi-Stakeholder Forum on e-Invoicing (EMSFeI) is a group of representatives from each EU country who meet in a forum to test, discuss and exchange best practices for the implementation of the new standard.

The goal is to ensure a broad, efficient and seamless implementation of the new e-Invoicing standard – locally and across the EU.

Within this forum, the representatives also have the possibility to discuss their common goals and interests as well as give their recommendations to the European Commission with a view to establish the further process for implementing electronic invoicing in the EU.

Thomas Jørgensen, Product Manager with TrueCommerce Denmark, will participate in the meetings together with representatives from the other EU countries.

What Role Does TrueCommerce Play in the EMSFeI?

EMSFel consists of two representatives from each EU country – one from the public sector and one from the private sector. TrueCommerce represents the Danish private sector and will have a direct influence on the development and implementation of the new standard format.

Most of TrueCommerce’s customers are exchanging invoices with the public sector. In addition to this, the new European common standard format is expected to gain a foothold in the private sector as well. Therefore, it will be highly beneficial to all of TrueCommerce’s customers that we keep one step ahead of the requirements for electronic invoicing in the EU.

In Denmark, the public sector has already started to customize the Danish OIOUBL invoice so that it meets the requirements of the European standard. This means that even if you do not trade with public organizations in Europa, you will still be affected by this customization.
