Appleby Westward Selects Atlas Universal Ebusiness Platform “to Deliver Significant Cost Savings and Operational Efficiencies”

SPAR wholesaler Appleby Westward has signed a significant multi-year agreement to utilise the award-winning Atlas Universal ebusiness platform.

Atlas Universal is a fully modular solution providing state of the art cloud-based order management and invoice matching together with EDI and web-EDI capabilities. The solution will benefit more than 400 suppliers to Appleby Westward and provides sophisticated portal, web and invoice matching functionality.

Appleby Westward Group currently serves 290 SPAR stores in the UK. SPAR is enjoying a period of substantial growth. It is the world’s biggest and most international retail food chain, with 19,000 stores in 35 countries. It records an astonishing 12 million transactions a week throughout its stores across the UK.

Appleby Westward Finance Director Tony Gummow said: “We are confident that the Atlas solution will deliver significant cost savings and operational efficiencies to our finance and trading functions.”

Appleby Westward Trading Director Nigel Taylor added: “We were impressed with Atlas’ combination of expertise in ebusiness and the retail supply chain.”

Atlas VP Group Sales Michael Latimer said: “We are delighted that Appleby Westward has chosen Atlas Universal as its ebusiness platform. The decision shows that the fully modular Atlas Universal solution allows complex businesses to combine cloud based portals, invoice matching and more traditional EDI into one easy to manage solution – allowing for seamless control of the entire supplier order and invoice process.”

Atlas has a strong track record of helping large operators of the SPAR brand, in particular in the Republic of Ireland, to make significant cost savings through the application of its solutions. Within the Universal platform, Atlas’ fast secure and reliable ebusiness portal – called Atlas Fusion – enables transaction processing and workflow to be managed across corporate and/or geographic boundaries.

For buyers and suppliers, Atlas Fusion provides a view of any document, be it paper or electronically originated, simply by using an Internet browser. There are multiple Atlas Fusion components, all of which are applications in the cloud, including Ordering and Invoicing, Supplier Management and International Sourcing.
