About the Customer

Ölmühle Moog GmbH is Europe’s first organic oil mill and a Franco-German, independent family business guided by strong values. Under the BIO PLANÈTE brand, around 160 employees produce more than 70 different coldpressed organic oils – from staples like rapeseed and sunflower oil to gourmet products like walnut and pumpkin seed oil, and health-focused oils such as flaxseed and black cumin. BIO PLANÈTE is the market leader in the organic specialist trade in both Germany and France. Since 2024, the company has also been offering its organic oils through selected full-range retailers to meet growing demand for high-quality, natural organic foods. To meet the requirements of retailers like REWE, EDEKA, and Globus, the EDI setup had to be modernized. The existing on-premises EDI solution, managed by a consultant, is being replaced with a modern cloudbased EDI solution.

The Challenge

Ölmühle Moog set out to modernize and streamline its digital communication processes by integrating multiple EDI message types into its Microsoft Business Central ERP system. The aim was to establish a more efficient, standardized exchange of business documents with trading partners, reducing manual work and improving data accuracy. As part of this initiative, the company plans to implement three core EDI message types: invoices (INVOIC), purchase orders (ORDERS), and dispatch advices (DESADV). These message types are essential for automating key business processes, ensuring faster turnaround times and enabling smoother collaboration with customers and suppliers.

The Solution

The first major milestone is planned for the end of the year, with 16 customers expected to be connected to the new EDI system for invoices (INVOIC), purchase orders (ORDERS), and dispatch advices (DESADV). This initial phase will lay the groundwork for broader adoption. A subsequent milestone involves onboarding the sister company, Huilerie Moog SAS in France, as both a customer and supplier, enabling cross-border document exchange. Currently, seven customers are already using the ORDERS message type. These will be transitioned first to ensure a smooth and efficient migration to the new cloud-based solution.

Detailed Results & Business Impact

Ölmühle Moog partnered with their ERP consultant, Jupiter, for EDI provider selection. Among the recommended providers, Ölmühle Moog chose TrueCommerce due to its high reliability, strong local support, and global network of over 180,000 trading partners. The flexible subscription-based pricing model (versus expensive license purchases) also played a key role in the decision. By the end of 2025, all 17 partners (customers and sister companies) will be active on the TrueCommerce cloud platform, making the current on-premises solution obsolete. At present, most orders are handled manually, resulting in high processing costs for small deliveries.

Future Plans

Some new customers have specific requirements for centralized delivery, making EDI integration a critical prerequisite for doing business with them. In parallel, several existing partners have also expressed a strong interest in transitioning to EDI as quickly as possible to improve efficiency and reduce manual processing. In response to this growing demand, TrueCommerce has worked closely with Ölmühle Moog to establish a clear priority list of partners and tasks, which is now actively being implemented as part of the rollout plan.

Next Steps

EDI will also be integrated directly into Microsoft Dynamics 365, enabling automated message exchange (orders, invoices, labels, etc.) with reduced manual effort. Ölmühle Moog is also considering moving its ERP to the cloud in the future.
